Kent County Council Free Early Education

The Mead participates in the Kent County Council Free Early Education Funding for 3 and 4 year olds. We are able to provide access up to 15 hours a week for 33/34 weeks a year (495 hours maximum out of a possible 570). The remaining entitlement of 75 hours cannot be claimed at another setting. Please refer to our Admissions Policy for further information. (Funding periods are 1st Sept – 31 Dec; 1 Jan – 31 Mar; 1 Apr – 31 Aug and funding starts to be applied for the period following a child’s 3rd birthday and finishes at the end of the period in which they turn 5.)

Tax-Free Childcare

You may be eligible to receive tax-free childcare from the government. This can be used to pay towards school fees up until the term of a child’s 5th birthday as well as some before and after school clubs and activities for children both under and over 5 years old.

Parents need to apply for a Tax-Free Childcare Account. The Mead School is registered on the scheme under no. 118975. Further details and information can be found on the GOV.UK website here.

From 1 January 2025, independent school fees from Reception upwards will be subject to VAT. The fees stated above are inclusive of VAT although we have not passed on the full cost of this tax to parents. We continue to work hard to further mitigate the impact.
