Celebrating a Love of Reading for WBD
The Mead has been transformed into a colourful world of imagination today as we celebrate World Book Day 2020 in style!
Dressed in a fantastic array of colourful and creative costumes based on characters from their favourite stories, our pupils are looking absolutely wonderful!
It’s not just our pupils who’ve embraced the story theme – our staff are looking brilliant too with Burglar Bill, Burglar Bob and Burglar Ben spotted lurking around the KS1 classrooms, Room on The Broom characters swooping through the corridors, the Queens of Hearts looking very regal in KS2 and a Mr Webster-sized Paddington Bear greeting all as they arrived at school this morning!
Throughout the day the children will be enjoying, sharing and focusing on a plethora of activities designed to celebrate the world of literacy as well as nurture and further develop a love of reading. Outside, the astro has been transformed into Hogwarts with our PE team holding Quidditch tournaments taking place throughout the morning (despite the rain)!
In addition to our World Book Day celebrations, we will be holding our Scholastic Book Fair during the final week of term, where children will have the chance to use their World Book Day tokens.
