Day living as Victorians for Year 5

Year 5 pupils travelled back in time to the Victorian era today.

Our Victorian children (who made a fantastic effort dressing up to look the part) have been taking part in an interactive day of historical learning.

They discovered what food was eaten by both the rich and the poor when Victoria was Queen, what contamination the food was susceptible to in these times, what the workhouse was and what jobs Victorian children did, the crime and punishment of this era and what Victorian Christmas traditions were. They also learnt about some famous Victorians – including Charles Dickens, Florence Nightingale and Sir Samuel Morton.

A huge thank you to Aardvark Productions for bringing history to life for our Year 5 pupils.
