Muddy Stilettos Finalist for ‘Originality in Teaching Music and The Arts
We are delighted to share that we have been nominated and gained an award as a finalist for ‘Originality in Teaching Music and The Arts’ in the Muddy Stilettos Best School Awards. The Muddy Stilettos Best School Awards has over 400 applicants, with only five making it to the finals of each category.
This incredible recognition is a testament to our talented team’s hard work, creativity, and dedication. We strive to push the boundaries and bring unique and innovative performances to our audiences with all our children involved, and being named a finalist in this highly competitive category is truly an honour.
Contributing Factors:
- Recent success in this department includes winning ‘The Best Junior Production’ at the ISA Drama Competition. The children and Head of Music and Drama wrote the play and music themselves.
- KS2 Choir were runner-up at the ISA A Capella competition.
- Every child performs in the Summer Show at our local theatre. All KS1 children perform in an additional spring show. Year 6 each year also performs at the local theatre and the ISA. This gives all the children confidence and access to a professional stage
- LAMDA (stages one and two) gained 52 distinctions and 16 merits in 2022.
- 6 of our children have joined agents since joining the school
- 8 Music/Drama scholarships since 2019
- Children are encouraged to perform at music concerts
- One child has successfully gained a place at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is working on her Grade 8 Piano.
- We have seen an uptake in child-led choirs and groups
- New music groups this year include ‘The Musical Theory Breakfast Group’, ‘String Lunch Club’, and ‘KS1, in addition to the KS2 Choir. These are free to attend and run at breakfast or lunchtime. The choirs take part in many external performing opportunities.
