Welcome to Summer Term 2024 at The Mead School!

Welcome back Meadites! The sun is shining and there are many happy faces. This term is bursting with activities to finish the academic year on a high! Here’s a snapshot of what’s in store:

Key Events:

  • Sports: Dive into various cricket and athletics matches across different age groups and our annual whole school Sports Day.
  • Academic: Educational workshops like the Y3 Shang Dynasty workshop and Y4 Maths competition.
  • Year 6 Preparations: Year 6 Enterprise is a Chocolate Project, creating their own chocolate bars to be sold at school. Year 6 also enjoys Bikeability transition sessions such as Kent Safety in Action. They finish their time with us with their trip to Switzerland and the summer show, Matilda!
  • Exploration: Educational trips such as the Y4 trip to Assembly Halls and various residential trips from Y3 to Y6 offer immersive learning experiences outside the classroom.

Weekly Highlights:

  • Week 1: Kick off with the Y6 Safety in Action Day and the delicious Chocolate Workshop.
  • Week 2: Bikeability for Year 6, the start of the cricket matches, and FoM Film Night.
  • Week 3: Y3 Shang Dynasty and Y4 Maths competition at Somerhill.
  • Week 4: Y4 Trip to the Assembly Halls and the ISA Mixed Regional Athletics.
  • Week 5: EYFS Forest Club, Y6 preparation for secondary schools, and Individual pupil & sibling photos.
  • Week 6: Mead Interhouse Bake-off, Summer Music Concert at King Charles the Martyr Church, Pre-Reception visit to Blackberry Farm and Pre-Reception Music performance in the gym.
  • Week 7: Year 6 residential to Switzerland.
  • Week 8: LAMDA Exams, Year 5 Residential to France, Year 2 Trip to Hastings and Reception visit the Sealife Centre.
  • Week 9: Year 4 Residential to an activity centre and Pre-Reception/Reception transition sessions.
  • Week 10: New Children’s Morning, Field Events, and Sports Day.
  • Trinity Week: Celebrate achievements with the Prizegiving at Trinity Theatre and enjoy dynamic Matilda performances during the Summer Shows.
  • Week 11: Staff Vs Year 6 Matches and Year 6 send-off!

Special Features:

Open Morning: Invite friends and family to experience the magic of Mead on the 20th of May.

Bake Off 2024: Stir up some fun in the kitchen during The Mead Bake Off, followed by a Charity Cake Sale.

FOM Events: Join the Friends of Mead for special events like the FOM Golf Day and Movie Night, fostering community spirit.
