At The Mead School in Royal Tunbridge Wells, we understand that small isn’t just beautiful. It’s the beginning of something much, much bigger. Our small class sizes give us the time and space to focus on every child, to plant the seeds of ideas that will transform their world, and to help them build the skills to allow them to achieve whatever they want.

Our school building is a lovely town house, but our campus extends across Royal Tunbridge Wells, taking in three sets of playing fields, the Trinity Theatre and Hargate Forest. And there is nothing small about our commitment to high-quality learning, subject-expert teachers, stimulating after-school clubs, or our ambition for our children. With an outstanding educational ethos and brilliant outcomes for our pupils, we support children to develop the skills and attitude they need to approach the next stage of their education with enthusiasm and confidence.

A school where children are ‘keen to learn’

Our most recent inspection strongly affirmed that The Mead is a thoroughly excellent school. Inspectors found that “Pupil’s achievement is excellent. They attain highly and progress well… demonstrate very high levels of engagement and are keen to learn”.

They also witnessed “excellent self-awareness and self-esteem, growing in confidence because leaders and staff teach them with much warmth and respect”.

We were delighted that The Mead received Double Excellent– the highest possible ranking in this report, with every aspect of school life ranked excellent.

What to expect at our Open Day

On an Open Day you will be welcomed by our friendly Admissions staff before meeting the Head, Catherine Openshaw. You will also have the chance to talk to current parents and ask them about their experience at The Mead School.

Next, one of our wonderful Year 6 pupils will take you on a tour of the school to experience all the exciting learning taking place in the classrooms and beyond. We encourage you to ask them whatever you like. Their answers will be candid and honest.

Finally, you will be able to talk to our Admissions staff again, who will be able to answer any further questions you have.
