Lunch menus

If we are to expect our pupils to work hard, play hard and develop strong, healthy bodies while celebrating, enjoying and embracing a healthy life style we must ensure the food they eat is of the highest standard in both quality and preparation.

Our catering manager is committed to the well-being of each individual child. All dietary requirements are respected and catered for. Fresh meat from a local butcher and fresh fruit, salad and vegetables are delivered daily. All food is freshly prepared on site and the whole school community including staff sit down to a delicious hot lunch every day. Menus are displayed on both the school noticeboard and the kitchen door.

Breakfast is available between 7.45am and 8.00am, where pupils can enjoy a choice of cereals or porridge, fresh fruit juice, yoghurts and toast with a range of spreads.

For those pupils staying to tea, a rotation of healthy choices such as freshly-filled bagels and houmous and pittas are offered, together with fresh fruit and a drink. We know we are extremely lucky at The Mead with the care, dedication and quality of our meals and pupils, staff and parents are extremely appreciative. The results are very healthy children of all ages who have a very healthy relationship with food. Only the best is good enough!

Our menu is regularly reviewed to ensure a good spread of meals and interest, and reflects traditional dates in the school calendar. We achieved the top score of ‘5’ in our Council Hygiene Award, and our menu has been recognised as offering healthy menu choices, winning a ‘Healthy Eating Award.’ We also cater to a range of food allergies and dietary requirements.
