A Day in the Life of a Reception Child
Ever wondered what it’s like to be 4 or five and travel the globe, dive into a swimming pool, step onto the stage and even speak French -all in one day?
That’s life in Reception! While the days become more structured, children continue to learn through play, exploration and hands-on experiences. With specialist teaching in PE, Music, Swimming, Performing Arts, French, Judo and Ballet, every day is a voyage of discovery. These sessions introduce children to a wide range of subjects, helping them develop diverse interests and skills from a young age and discover what excites them early on.
Reception is the ideal place for learning that goes beyond the limited National Curriculum, within a warm, family environment. Children enjoy access to prestigious facilities across Tunbridge Wells, from performing on a real stage at Trinity Theatre to taking part in music concerts at the beautiful King Charles the Martyr Church.
Alongside specialist lessons, children build strong foundations in phonics, reading, writing and maths. At the same time, they learn about the world around them through history, religion and the creative arts.
Reception truly is a joyful, busy and enriching year – full of discovery, challenge and fun. Children consolidate their foundations, begin to excel, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
