Making Maths Marvellous – Maths Week

Maths Week burst into life across the school with colour, imagination and plenty of hands-on fun. Every class explored the magic of maths in wonderfully creative ways. Here is just some of what our classes have been up to:

Reception: Shape Monsters on the Loose!
Reception children reinforced their learning on shapes, cutting and sticking circles, triangles, rectangles and more to build their very own shape monsters. With googly eyes, and wild expressions, the classroom quickly filled with a friendly army of geometric creatures.

Year 2: Edible Maths – Tasty Learning at Its Best
Year 2 had a deliciously memorable week with edible maths. Using marshmallows and raisins, they constructed 3D shapes they’d been learning about. Cubes, square-based pyramids and prisms came to life (some almost too tempting not to nibble). This lesson helped them understand vertices, edges and faces in the sweetest way possible.

Year 4: Cake, Creativity and Collaborative Thinking

Year 4 had a double helping of mathematical fun. In Art, they embraced 3D drawing by sketching cakes with realistic depth and perspective—and then enjoyed the edible versions afterwards! They also worked collaboratively to solve number challenges, using given values and applying logic, addition and subtraction to figure out the missing numbers.

Year 5: Cracking the Code
Year 5 tackled a tricky Clue Cracker challenge. Working collaboratively, they applied logic, number knowledge and deduction to unlock the puzzle.

Year 6: Fractions and Chronological order
Year 6 put their reasoning skills to the test with “Guess Who? -Fractions Edition,” narrowing down mystery characters using fractional clues. They also tackled challenges involving chronology, including calculating the time it takes for the Earth to orbit the sun.

England Rocks – Times Tables Rockstars

The Times Tables Rock Stars ‘England Rocks’ competition is over, and we are incredibly proud of every student who took part. Well done to our top three children
