Meet Our Experts in KS2 and Entrance Examinations 

At The Mead, our pupils benefit from the guidance of a highly experienced and collaborative team, specialising in both the Kent Test and independent school entrance examinations. With a deep understanding of each child’s journey, our staff provide exceptional preparation, support and advice at every stage.

Mrs Feaver

Head of Transitions 
Mrs Feaver brings a wealth of experience from her work with pupils in Year 5 and beyond, guiding families seamlessly through the transition to senior schools. She is a recognised expert in the Kent Test process and offers invaluable advice to parents on both grammar and independent school pathways. Mrs Feaver leads our acclimatisation sessions and Core Skills Extension Club, ensuring pupils are confident, well-prepared and familiar with the demands of assessment. 

Mrs Openshaw

Headteacher, Specialist in Secondary School Admissions 
Working closely with Mrs Feaver, Mrs Openshaw has extensive experience in secondary school admissions, with a particular specialism in the 11+ and independent school entrance examinations. Her strategic oversight ensures that every child’s pathway is carefully considered and expertly supported, reflecting The Mead’s strong track record of success.  

Mrs Wilson and Mrs Jaques

Deputy Head (Pastoral) and Head of Learning Strategies
Pastoral care lies at the heart of successful preparation. As Deputy Head (Pastoral), Mrs Wilson provides expert support in pupil wellbeing, equipping children with the resilience, confidence and positive mindset needed to thrive in examinations. Alongside her, Mrs Jaques, our Head of Learning Strategies, ensures that pupils with additional needs are fully supported. She works closely with families to implement appropriate access arrangements, including tailored exam conditions, enabling every child to perform at their best. Mrs Jaques is a Year 6 teacher and takes core skills extension club.

Mrs Russell and Mrs Hogg

Head of Maths and KS2 and Head of English and KS1
They lead the academic preparation for entrance examinations, drawing on their extensive experience as both Head of Maths and a Year 5 teacher. They have a deep understanding of the requirements of the Kent Test and independent school assessments, and work closely to deliver a rigorous, well-rounded programme that ensures pupils are thoroughly prepared right from the start.
