Rethinking Early Education

Pre-Reception is a learning laboratory (second to home) to help children learn. At the time when most rapid brain development happens, it is important to nurture and unlock this.

At this stage, it’s essential to nurture their potential and unlock their abilities. By integrating play-based learning, we ensure that children engage with the world around them, developing skills and knowledge in a fun and interactive way. Each week, the children enjoy a carefully tailored timetable featuring Music, Literacy, Maths, PE, French lessons and engaging afternoon activities such as Woodwork, Arts, Ballet, and Sports as well as extra activities.

A Day in the Week of Pre-Reception

A typical week in Pre-Reception is filled with a wide range of exciting and educational activities.

The week started with the arrival of the living eggs. During the week they will hatch to little chicks and Pre-Reception will nurture and look after the chicks. This enhances their topics on life-cycle. On Monday afternoon, they immersed themselves in woodwork, honing their creativity and fine motor skills.

Tuesday brought extra excitement as the firefighters visited the school. The children learned all about fire engines and equipment, had the opportunity to dress up as firefighters, and even sat inside the fire engine itself. It was an unforgettable experience, sparking plenty of imaginative role play in the Pre-Reception class. Additionally, Tuesday was Pancake Day, and the children followed a recipe to make their own pancakes. There was much laughter and excitement as they flipped the pancakes, delighting in their culinary creations.

Pre-Reception celebrated World Book Day in style! They had an action-packed “Adventure” sports session, enjoyed a fun performing arts lesson with Mr Daniels, baked delicious lion-shaped cookies with Mrs Hibberd, and got creative with mask-making. What a day full of imagination and fun!
