School Council 2024
Meet our new school council representatives of 2024. School council gives children a voice, empowering them to share ideas and shape their school environment. It teaches vital skills like teamwork, leadership and decision-making, encouraging active participation in school life.
The newly elected school council has been busy driving change. The children were full of inspiring ideas which were discussed, and the following changes were made after their first meeting:
Playground Buddies Initiative
The school council has proposed a new plan for Playground Buddies to foster inclusivity. Key details include:
- Buddy Training: Playground buddies will receive training.
- Class Representation: Each class will have one playground buddy.
- Badges: Buddies will wear a badge, passed on each half-term.
- Support Bench: Children needing a buddy can sit on the Year 6 leavers’ bench for support.
- Inclusivity and Games: Buddies will help all children feel welcome and learn new games.
Theme Day: Dress Up as the Job You Want
This creative idea was enthusiastically approved and will be a fun opportunity for children to explore future careers.
Vegetarian Lunch Options
The council suggested using vegetables instead of fake meat to serve vegetarians better, ensuring a balanced approach.
Extracurricular Clubs
A Performing Arts Club started after half-term to include more musical theatre, as requested by the children.
Breaktime Snacks
The suggestion to offer an alternative to breadsticks is under review.
House Mascot Design Competition
This competition will be launched soon by Mr Davies and Thomas, encouraging creativity among children.
