Matilda – Summer Show

“Even if you are little you can do a lot, You musn’t let a thing like little stop you”

Matilda

The Mead School recently brought the magic of Matilda to life at the Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells, delivering a performance that was nothing short of spectacular. The entire school participated, from the youngest children, who were just four years old, to the confident Year 6 children, who took on the lead roles. The audience’s reaction – clapping, cheering, and demanding more was a testament to the show’s success and the incredible talent on display.

What makes The Mead’s approach so unique is its commitment to ensuring that every child in the school has the opportunity to shine on stage. From choreography and singing to acting and dancing, each child was fully immersed in the world of Matilda. The children had the full experience, with hair, makeup, and dress rehearsals that helped make performing feel like second nature. Songs like “Naughty,” “Revolting Children,” and “When I Grow Up” were performed with enthusiasm and heart. The portrayal of the characters was full of emotion and depth, making it easy to forget that they were so young.

This hands-on experience with performing arts is instrumental in developing the confident, well-rounded children The Mead is known for. It’s no wonder that many of these children go on to earn drama and music scholarships and pursue careers in acting. The school’s dedication to fostering creativity and self-expression truly sets it apart.
