Reception welcome their Grandparents
Grandparents make the world a little softer, a little kinder and a little warmer
This week, our Reception children had the absolute joy of welcoming their grandparents into school for a very special morning together. The room was buzzing with excitement and packed full of proud, smiling grandparents, all eager to spend time with their grandchildren.
The morning began with a delightful musical performance, as the children sang and played instruments to explore rhythm and beat. This early musical education is just one of the many ways our pupils develop their creativity.
Following the music, the children presented their grandparents with colourful handprint keepsakes, lovingly made just for them. Then, it was time to enjoy a well-earned tea and cake (served by their Year 6 friends), giving everyone a chance to sit, chat and enjoy each other’s company.
The bond between grandparents and their grandchildren was clear for all to see, filled with warmth, love, and pride. The children were thrilled to take their grandparents on a tour of their classroom, sharing their work and favourite activities before they went off around the wider school. It was a wonderful way to help grandparents visualise the places their grandchildren talk about at home.
“The Year 6 girls who took us around the school were a delight. Polite, informative and happy to answer questions. They were a credit to the school” and “both the reception class and the Y6 children did splendidly” were just a few of the lovely comments from grandparents.
The morning was truly magical, filled with heart warming moments. We love welcoming extended family into our school and are so grateful to everyone who came.
