In Pre-Reception at The Mead, learning is hands-on, purposeful and carefully guided by exceptional early years teaching.
Learning You Can See
One moment, children are deep in a maths activity – counting, sorting, reasoning and explaining their thinking with growing confidence. The next, they are creating their own perfumes – measuring and mixing scents, and expanding vocabulary through rich sensory exploration. Then it’s art, woodwork/yoga, phonics and story discovery, all in one day.
It may look playful (because it should be), but every activity is carefully designed to build:
- Secure early number sense
- Strong language and communication skills
- Pencil control and early writing fluency
- Concentration, resilience, and independence
- Skills though activities such as woodwork, yoga, art, gardening and more!
This is academic groundwork and discovery, sprinkled with the magic of The Mead.
Specialist Lessons (Yes, Even at Three) Why wait? Pre-Reception pupils benefit from specialist teaching in:
- Music – rhythm, listening and performance skills
- French – early language exposure when brains are primed for it
