Super Sporting Success for our Meadites!
We’ve had a bumper week of sporting success here at The Mead!
Our Year 5 and 6 girls team qualified for the ISA National Netball Finals after an outstanding performance at the Qualifying Tournament, and our Year 5 and 6 boys were crowned champions at the regional ISA Tag Rugby Tournament against seven other prep schools.
The girls competed against 11 other schools at the ISA Netball Tournament at Lingfield Prep last Monday. Mrs Mackenzie, Head of Girls Games, said, “The girls played their socks off! Beautiful through court play, excellent defending, fantastic shooting and confident attacking sealed the deal for this young team. The girls made it look effortless winning 9 matches, drawing 1 and losing narrowly to the overall winners. Amazing job girls, you should be so pleased with yourselves. I know we certainly are!” The Mead girls placed second overall qualifying them for the National Finals taking place in Rugby this week.
The Mead hosted the ISA U11 Regional Tag Rugby Tournament last Wednesday. A huge congratulations to our boys who were the overall winners and whose fantastic teamwork and sportsmanship did us proud. Mrs Girling, Boys Sports Teacher said: “It was a fantastic afternoon of rugby with plenty of fast play and impressively fought tries from all the teams that took part. The standard was high on all levels but what added to an enjoyable afternoon of rugby was the excellent manners, sportsmanship and teamwork the boys displayed. A fantastic result boys, we are so proud of you all, well done.”
