U11A Footballers Reach ISA National Finals for Second Consecutive Year

There was plenty to celebrate for football at The Mead this weekend, as our U11A team secured their place in the ISA National Finals for the second consecutive year following an impressive performance in the regional qualifying competition at Lingfield College.

The team began the tournament with a strong group-stage performance, recording five wins, one draw and one defeat across their seven matches to progress to the knockout stages.

The boys continued their excellent form in the quarter-final, securing a convincing 3–0 victory over Sacred Heart, before producing another composed performance in the semi-final, where they edged past Elmhurst 1–0.

A closely fought final followed, with the team narrowly losing 1–0 to Fidelis College. While the result meant they finished as regional runners-up for the second consecutive year, their achievement in reaching the National Finals once again is a fantastic accomplishment.

Throughout the competition, the team demonstrated skill, determination and an impressive sense of teamwork, with every player contributing to a memorable weekend of football.

National Finals: two years running

Qualifying for the National Finals for a second consecutive year reflects the consistency and ambition of football at The Mead. For a school of our size, opportunities to compete at this level provide pupils with valuable experiences both on and off the pitch – developing resilience, teamwork, leadership and confidence alongside sporting ability.

The football continued the following day at St Michael’s, with our Year 5 U10 team taking part in a tournament of their own. After narrowly missing out on the Cup competition following two wins and two defeats in their group, the team progressed to the Plate competition.

They went on to reach the Plate final, where they faced Somerhill in another closely contested match, eventually finishing as runners-up after a narrow 1–0 defeat.

It was another highly successful tournament for our footballers, and a wonderful reflection of the enthusiasm, commitment and team spirit shown across our football programme.

Congratulations to all of our players – we are incredibly proud of you.
