Day in the Life of a Pre-Reception
Life in Pre-Reception is a journey of adventure and discovery in a safe and encouraging environment. All the children have settled in well and have developed little bonds of friendship to serve them through the school years to come.
For the love of reading
At the Mead, we do a 'Guided Reading' scheme in addition to free choice and reading schemes. Each class explores a book together, which provokes discussion around the book and is an excellent way of exposing children to a variety of books and helping to comprehend and share opinions as a class.
Mathemagic
During our Maths lessons, we never assume anything is obvious. We use practical tasks and visual aids to introduce mathematical concepts and reinforce understanding throughout the school. We encourage curiosity (one of our key mindsets) through being 'truth-seekers, determined to investigate the accuracy and have deeper knowledge and understanding.
The Magic of Mitzi – our School Therapy Dog
There are many benefits of having a school therapy dog. Children and staff alike talk about the calming effect of Mitzy (whose tail will be waggling being in the limelight)
Magical New Beginnings
As we roll into Autumn after a summer of exceptional weather, we were delighted to welcome back all the children to the new academic year and to greet new children at our school gate.
3,2,1.. Action! Cue – Performing Arts at The Mead
The benefits of children participating in the Performing Arts are enormous: building confidence, encouraging teamwork, empathising with characters, exposing children to a creative environment and more.
